Biljana Šimunović Bešlin

Biljana Šimunović-Bešlin (1963) is a full professor at the History Department of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. She is engaged in teaching the history of Yugoslavia, the social and cultural history of the Serbs in the 20th century, and digital history. She participated in international scientific and teaching mobility programs and received professional training at universities in the USA, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the Czech Republic. She participated in numerous national and international scientific conferences (Novi Sad, Belgrade, Vienna, Prague, Braunschweig, Cologne, Regensburg, Budapest), as well as in domestic and international scientific projects. She managed a two-year project (2018-2019) of bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Slovenia in the field of science (Faculty of Philosophy of the UNS and Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ljubljana). She published dozens of scientific works (monographs, studies, articles in anthologies and scientific journals, biographical references for the Serbian biographical dictionary of Matica srpska, book reviews, etc.) in Serbia and abroad, in Serbian, English, German and Hungarian. He researches topics from the cultural and social history of Serbs in the 20th century (history and social role of cultural institutions, educational policy and practice, national identity of Serbs and inter-ethnic relations in Vojvodina). She created a website about innovative methods and techniques for studying and presenting historical content in the digital age, which is used as a textbook for the Basics of Digital History course:
