He attended the Master&#8217;s studies at the Central European University in Budapest. He defended his master thesis <em>The Cult of the Fallen Soldier in Serbia and Hungary Seen through War Memorials 1914-1918<\/em> in 2007. He attended doctoral studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, and defended his thesis <em>World War I and Serbia. The technicalization of warfare and the culture of memory 1914-2009<\/em> in 2011. The main area of his \u200b\u200binterest is the cultural history of the First World War in the Balkans as well as the history of violence in the first half of the 20th century (with a special emphasis on the issues of banditry).<\/p>\n<p>Danilo \u0160arenac has been abroad for training on several occasions. In 2019, he stayed at the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute in Berlin, under a DAAD scholarship. During 2021, he researched in French archives as part of the <em>Directeurs d&#8217;Etudes Associ\u00e9s DEA 2021<\/em> program of <em>La Fondation Maison des Sciences de l&#8217;Homme<\/em>. He collaborated on several international projects, including the ERC project on Roma emancipation: &#8220;<em>Roma inter Bellum<\/em>. Roma Civic Emancipation Between the Two Wars&#8221;.
